MacOS 10.13 High Sierra Release Set for Fall

Apple has announced the next Mac OS system software release, which will be named macOS High Sierra and versioned as 10.13.

The upcoming Mac system software version includes various new features and updates to the Mac operating system, including an all new file system, enhancements to Safari, Photos, and Mail app, and include various under the hood updates as well.

macOS High Sierra features an all new updated Safari web browser including features like autoplay blocking, along with intelligent tracking prevention. Updates to Mail app include a split screen view and better storage management, along with an update to Photos app which includes more editing tools and face recognition syncing.

Under the hood, High Sierra includes updates to the underlying video and graphics architecture in Mac OS including optimizations for virtual reality engines, along with the all new APFS file system for Mac OS High Sierra, which aims to be faster, have native encryption, and include other benefits.

MacOS High Sierra Beta Versions Available Now

The developer beta of MacOS 10.13 will be available immediately, and a public beta will be available later in June.

MacOS High Sierra 10.13 will be released to the general public in the fall as a free software update for compatible Mac hardware.

Separately, Apple announced iOS 11, watchOS 4, and a variety of spec updates to Mac hardware.
